- The Assistant Legal Officer will be tasked with interviewing, counseling and provision of general Legal counsel to clients.
- Responsible for drafting and preparation of Legal and Court Documents.
- Representing the Employer’s clients in courts of law (for legal officers only), mediation /arbitration proceedings and or other tribunals.
- In charge of representing the Employer at forums and meetings with donors, partners, etc.
- Formulation of articles for the Employer’s Journals and newsletters.
- Supervise all pro-bono activities at clinic level generally
- Preparation and submission of monthly Progress and Activity reports
- Maintaining proper and up-to-date client’s records and files.
- Ensure proper use and care of all assets belonging to the Employer.
- Carry out any other lawful duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicants for the Assistant Legal Officer jobs should hold an LLB and a post graduate diploma in legal practice
- Computer literacy skills
- Tested litigation skills up to High Court level
- Tested skills in ADR and advocacy.
- Training and skills transfer ability
- An open and result oriented approach to work
- Good leadership, management and team building skills
- Good report writing skills
- Integrity, confidentiality and the ability to accomplish tasks promptly under minimum supervision.
- Ability to speak local languages in Mbarara is an added advantage.
