- Work closely with the Director of the MUII Centre to develop Centre strategy
- Support talented young African scientists to develop their careers
- Regularly interact with international collaborators
- The incumbent will also ensure the smooth implementation and running of the MUII Centre programme of work
- Steer the administrative management of the Centre
- Arrange Steering and Advisory Board meetings
- Arrange and chair executive meetings
- Organise courses, meetings and events
- The jobholder will also organise advertising selection processes for recruitment of MUII Centre fellows
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Master’s degree in Public Health and Administration/ Project Planning and Management/ Monitoring and Evaluation or similar, ideally with some science background, and keen to develop a career in research management
- A minimum of four years’ experience in a position of project management / coordination/monitoring and evaluation.
- Passion for the development of science research in Uganda
- Comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of research responsibilities and conduct
- Ability to organise, time manage, set goals and motivate staff
- Personal integrity, ability to learn, flexibility and concern for excellence
