Programme Manager Job Vacancy at Makerere/UVRI Infection and Immunity Research Training Programme

Job Requirements: 
  • Work closely with the Director of the MUII Centre to develop Centre strategy
  • Support talented young African scientists to develop their careers
  • Regularly interact with international collaborators
  • The incumbent will also ensure the smooth implementation and running of the MUII Centre programme of work
  • Steer the administrative management of the Centre
  • Arrange Steering and Advisory Board meetings
  • Arrange and chair executive meetings
  • Organise courses, meetings and events
  • The jobholder will also organise advertising selection processes for recruitment of MUII Centre fellows
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Master’s degree in Public Health and Administration/ Project Planning and Management/ Monitoring and Evaluation or similar, ideally with some science background, and keen to develop a career in research management
  • A minimum of four years’ experience in a position of project management / coordination/monitoring and evaluation.
  • Passion for the development of science research in Uganda
  • Comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of research responsibilities and conduct
  • Ability to organise, time manage, set goals and motivate staff
  • Personal integrity, ability to learn, flexibility and concern for excellence
